Handling

Karen Van Brummelen"I've shown Dobermans for more than 20 years. I was a part time all breed handler for about 10 years but I
never had the opportunity to show Danes. In 2000 I finished my first Great Dane for David and
Donna Vaughn
and was totally hooked on the breed. The second dane I
finished was a blue and that was a love affair. Now, I usually
only show Danes and Dobes...but occasionally I will handle other breeds.
My client dogs live in my house...actually share my
bed if need be, to bond. I
will only take a limited number of client dogs so everyone gets one on
one attention several times everyday. I have no kennel runs, if there
is not a perfect "running/exercise" buddy for them ... I'm it. I have
1/2 acre fenced in for them to play. It is 1/3 gravel and 2/3 grass
with shade trees. I also have a 50 foot covered deck across the back
of my house where they can go out if it is raining or snowing and
don't prefer to get wet or cold while on potty break or playing.
I no longer work outside the home so when I'm not showing my days are spent tending to, training and living with the dogs. After working in an office for 36 years, working with dogs on a full time basis is a dream come true.
